Getting to Huahin

     Hua Hin  is the closest beach resort of Bangkok, located  just 281 kms away. This makes it an ideal weekend getaway for locals and tourists visiting Bangkok.

     Getting to Hua Hin from Bangkok is easy.  All options for transport are available in this route – bus, minibus, car, train and airplane. Hua Hin is barely 3 hours drive from Bangkok, with many places of tourist interest along the way like Koh Wang. This virtually rules out the flight option. Moreover, SGA Airlines, the only airlines flying in the route has cancelled the flights indefinitely. Chartered flights are still available.

Hourly bus services are available from Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai Bus Terminal, Pinklao) in Bangkok from 0400 hrs to 2220 hrs. Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses ply the route from Southern Bus Terminal to Srasong Road in Hua Hin. Prior reservation is required to secure seats in buses. The tickets have to be booked at the bus station in person. The ticket costs about 160 THB.
Some of these buses will take you further south like the adjoining district of Pranburi and Petchburi. However, passengers to Hua Hin get down at the Clock Tower located at the heart of town. The buses take slightly more time to reach the destination as they stop many times on the way. The journey duration is three to three and a half hours.



 Minibuses are much faster than buses. They cover the distance is about two and a half hours. They have a limited seating capacity of 11-12 seats. In Bangkok, minibuses start from Ratchawitee Hospital near the Victory Monument.
Minibuses ply the route every 15 minutes from 0600 hrs to 1900 hrs. The ticket costs 200 THB. In Hua Hin, the minibuses unload passengers in a site off Petchkasem Road in the centre of town.



 you can either flag down a cab or approach a travel agency either directly or through your hotel, to hire a cab. However, decide on the fare before the trip, as it can vary vastly according to your negotiating skills. It usually is in the range of 1000 to 3000 THB.
You may hire a car and drive all the way to Hua Hin. There are two routes from Bangkok to Hua Hin. The shorter one is along Thonburi-Paktho Road, via Samut Songkhram, Petchkasem Highway and along the route to Prachuab Khirikhan. The longer one is via Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi and Petchaburi.
Journey by car takes approximately three hours.


Train is a safer and comfortable way to reach Hua Hin from Bangkok. Trains run from Hua Lum Pong Railway Station in Bangkok to the historic Hua Hin railway station. Both stations can be reached easily.
Train tickets can be reserved 60 days in advance either in person at any railway station of Thailand or online. Online reservations cost 200 THB extra, which is levied at the railway station, where you go to collect the tickets. The journey time is 3½ to 4 hours.
